Danish artist Peter Callesen creates meticulous sculptural works by cutting single sheets of paper and using the removed paper to create figures or buildings. Callesen states, ‘The negative and absent 2 dimensional space left by the cut, points out the contrast to the 3 dimensional reality it creates.’
His installations, meanwhile, involve complex layers of paper cut items that are equally impressive.
Like fellow artist Rob Ryan, Callesen succeeds to create stories through the materials that can be dark, humorous and always interesting. You can find more of his work after the jump and through his studio.
