The new exhibit from Chris Beas is titled Tamburello, named after Imola’s infamous Formula One race track. It’s a stretch of road marred by the tragic events of the 1984 Grand Prix where two drivers crashed and a third died. Artist Chris Beas uses that race to create his new exhibit at Martha Otero gallery. The work is a mix of sculpture, gouache on paper paintings and installation. The F1 on display here captures the incredible spectacle of power and speed for which it’s know. It also juxtaposes these images with the intrinsic danger that is interpreted in almost sublime form through gouache on paper.
